Autumn Thoughts

Gone hath the Spring, with all its flowers, And gone the Summer’s pomp and show, And Autumn, in his leafless bowers, Is waiting for the Winter’s snow. I said to Earth, so cold and gray, “An emblem of myself thou art.” “Not so,” the Earth did seem to say, “For Spring shall warm my frozen heart.” I soothe my wintry sleep with dreams Of warmer sun and softer rain, And wait to hear the sound of streams And songs of merry birds again. But thou, from whom the Spring hath gone, For whom the flowers no longer blow, Who standest blighted and forlorn, Like Autumn waiting for the snow; No hope is thine of sunnier hours, Thy Winter shall no more depart; No Spring revive thy wasted flowers, Nor Summer warm thy frozen heart. - - John Greenleaf Whittier

Box it Out

So, while this isn't my Mii doing the boxing, it is the equivalent of what I was doing an hour ago nonetheless.  Twenty plus minutes of cardio boxing.  It was fun and I "blew up" nearly every target in that time frame, so mission accomplished.   Now I just have to hope that my arms aren't Jell-o tomorrow.

Year of the Dragon.... In the Rear View

In 2012, I gained  a full-time teaching position, and along with it my very own classroom filled with over sixty students each day and five awesome team members who let me ask them a hundred questions as they come to mind. I lost  some old friends, but made some new ones in return.  I stopped  running on a regular basis, and for no good reason either. I started  reading (and writing) again. I was hugely satisfied by  the comma in my first official paycheck, and each check after that for a matter of fact. And frustrated by  not being able to do all of the things I wanted to do this past year. I am so embarrassed that I  didn't turn down that one dare. Once again, I  listened to my music just a little too loud. Once again, I did not  write as often as I promised I would. The biggest physical difference between me last December and this December is  a new pair of glasses with some hot pink on the arms. The biggest psychological difference between me last December and this December i
